Become a Member of Whidbey Compost Collective

Whidbey Compost Collective is a nonprofit established in 2022, committed to keeping food scraps out of the landfill by turning them into nutrient-rich compost for local use. Whidbey Compost Collective envisions a decentralized composting system that delivers long-term environmental and economic benefits for Whidbey Island residents. We need your support to grow!

Members of Whidbey Compost Collective can drop their food scraps off at designated locations for us to collect and process.

We are starting our program soon, join the membership waitlist!

Items We Accept:

We can take all food scraps including all fruits, veggies, meat, cheese, small bones and small quantities of food soiled paper as long as it isn't waxed.

Items To Avoid:

We cannot take "compostable" products such as plastic-like utensils/containers, no pet waste or large bones and we'd like to avoid really moldy or rotten food and excess grease.
