Membership Details

Members have access to a network of food scrap drop off locations. Deposit your food scraps into our drop off containers and we will take care of the rest. You will also receive a yearly share of quality soil amendments.

About Our Sliding Scale Pricing

We want to make participation in our food scrap drop-off program accessible to as many Whidbey Islanders as possible who want to participate. Our sliding scale pricing model is a deliberate structure that pushes back against a system that ties access to income. It enables people with different levels of resources to pay different amounts for the same thing. Choosing your tier is itself an act of participation in that structure.

Every tier is full membership. You choose what fits you.

Community supported – $14/month
For households where money is tight and paying more would mean cutting into basics like food, housing, or transportation.

Standard – $24/month
For households where basics are reliably covered and this rate doesn't require real sacrifice.

Community supporter – $49/month
A monthly contribution with full membership included. Choosing this tier helps keep the sliding scale possible and supports the long-term growth of the program.

Items We Accept:

We can take all food scraps including all fruits, veggies, meat, cheese, small bones and small quantities of food soiled paper as long as it isn't waxed.

Items To Avoid:

We cannot take "compostable" products such as plastic-like utensils/containers, no pet waste or large bones and we'd like to avoid really moldy or rotten food and excess grease.

Be alert to produce stickers, rubber bands, bits of plastic, and anything else that we don’t want going back into the soil.
