Hi new rePurpose member!
Welcome to our community.
Thank you so much for joining our cause and working to create positive change towards zero waste on Whidbey Island.
Since you’re just getting started with us, you may have some questions about our processes.
You are always welcome to ask Jacquie (our hardworking On-Site Coordinator) or Solveig (our dedicated Reuse Center coordinator) questions in person or via email.
Here are some general member tips and tricks to help you along:
Our property, located at 724 Camano Ave in Langley, is lovingly called The People’s House, as we host many events and experiences that are aimed at supporting people and community.
Please Empty, Clean, and Dry All Materials
Dirty materials create mold and attract pests. Please help our team out and keep our environment healthy and clean
Please Triple Rinse Tetra Paks and Milk Cartons
Milk cartons and tetra paks can be especially tricky to clean and dry, so watch our video here for a detailed description of how to best clean and dry these items.
Please Don’t Break Up Your Styrofoam
Even if you have very large pieces of styrofoam, please leave them intact. When breaking styrofoam, little pieces are released into the environment. It’s easier for our team to transport large, intact pieces.
Please Email Patch from For The People, our fiscal sponsor, at patch@forthepeople.earth if you need to update your payment information.
Please no dumping!
Please do not leave items unattended at our facilities. We only accept items during drop off hours which are listed on the events page of our website. Things that are left outside get wet, dirty, and ruined. If you need accommodation, please reach out and we can make an appointment.
What does rePurpose accept, and where does it go?
We accept more than 30 recyclable and reusable materials. These items are brought to more than 30 locations across the country for proper reuse and recycling.
Here is an image of all of the items we currently accept at rePurpose:
Our Fresh Sheet details all of the materials we collect at rePurpose.

We host exciting events and activities every month.

Do you have food scraps you’d like to compost?
Sign up for the Compost Collective!
They are a separate entity from rePurpose, though we are closely partnered in many aspects of the work we do.
For $24/month, you can bring your food craps to one of the Compost Collective’s kiosks either at The People’s House or behind the South Whidbey Commons Cafe. The organic material is composted by The Compost Collective right here on South Whidbey.
Thank you again for joining our community. We look forward to seeing you at our weekly drop off events and monthly activities.
Feel free to reach out with any questions.
Stay tuned for our monthly newsletter and weekly social media posts.
