Why Become a rePurpose Member?
You may be asking yourself, “Why should I become a rePurpose member?”
Well, we at rePurpose have some answers for you!
Our Zero Waste Programs
We offer seven zero waste programs open to rePurpose members. These programs include Drop Off Events, the Reuse Center, Reusable Dishware Rental, Food Scraps Drop-Off, Zero Waste Events, Repair Cafes, and Waste Audits and Education.
Our programs strive to make Whidbey zero waste by increasing zero waste advocacy in our community and providing alternative options to existing consumption practices.
For example, at our zero waste events, members can learn about the importance of adopting different ways of thinking and acting as it relates to zero waste living. Through our Reusable Dishware Rental program, all members have access to a free dishware rental for a party of up to 30 people once per year, which helps reduce the amount of single-use cutlery and dishware sent to landfill.
Why Membership Matters
Membership at rePurpose Whidbey is essential because we are a community-based organization. We are only as strong as the community that supports us. With your help, we can continue to provide zero waste services and advocacy to our community members.
The Roosevelt Landfill
Island County solid waste collected on Whidbey Island is sent to the Roosevelt Regional Landfill. This landfill is located more than 400 miles south of Whidbey Island. The time and energy used to transport Whidbey’s waste that far south could be used for important public services to help better our community. That is why rePurpose offers our zero waste services and why we strive to promote responsible habits on a community level. If we each do our part to support positive habits in our community, we will soon reap the benefits of our efforts.
